Fog of War

When Fog of War is enabled:

  • You can only see your own units
  • Enemy units are only visible within your vision range
  • Terrain shows as explored (grey) or unexplored (black)
  • You must scout to reveal the map

When Fog of War is disabled:

  • All terrain is always visible
  • All units (yours and enemy) are always visible

When creating a room, check the “Enable Fog of War” option. The setting applies for the entire match.

Each unit can see a certain distance:

  • Infantry: 2 hexes
  • Vehicle: 2 hexes

Vision extends in all directions in a circular pattern.

  • Each unit reveals hexes within its vision range
  • Multiple units create overlapping vision
  • Enemy units at visible hexes are revealed
  • You can only attack enemies you can see
  • Fully bright terrain
  • Currently within your unit’s vision range
  • Shows terrain and any enemy units present
  • Darkened/grey overlay
  • Previously visited but not currently visible
  • Shows terrain as you last saw it
  • Does NOT show current enemy positions
  • Complete darkness
  • Never visited by your units
  • Nothing visible until explored

Some terrain blocks line of sight:

  • Block vision through them
  • Units inside forests are hidden from units outside
  • Must be adjacent or inside to see hidden units
  • Block vision through them
  • Units behind mountains are hidden
  • Bonus: Units ON mountains get +1 vision range (Infantry sees 3 hexes instead of 2)
  • Grass, roads, and shallow water do not block vision
  • Units are visible to anyone with vision range
  • Deep water does not block vision (but is impassable)
  • You can only attack enemies you can currently see
  • Cannot attack into unexplored (black) fog
  • Cannot attack into explored (grey) fog
  • Enemy must be in your current vision range

Moving into certain terrain with fog enabled may trigger Ambush Mechanics.
