TinyGenerals is a modern, browser-based, asymmetric asynchronous turn-based strategy game inspired by classic turn-based wargames and 4X strategy. It’s free to play, now in Early Access, and launched in December 2025. Command units on a hex grid, capture bases, and outmaneuver opponents in strategic battles. Play with asymmetric factions at your own pace, with no time pressure, just pure strategic thinking.
TinyGenerals brings hex-grid tactical warfare to your browser with no downloads required. Whether you’re a strategy veteran or new to turn-based tactics, TinyGenerals offers engaging gameplay that’s easy to learn but strategically deep.
The game takes place on a hexagonal grid where positioning, terrain, and unit composition are key to victory. Each hex tile can contain different terrain types that affect movement and combat, creating dynamic strategic opportunities.
Take your time to plan each move. TinyGenerals is designed for asynchronous play, meaning you can:
Play against other players in games supporting 2-8 players. Create rooms, invite friends, or challenge strangers to strategic battles.
Command diverse unit types with deep tactical mechanics:
Advanced Combat System:
Build your empire through strategic expansion:
Navigate diverse landscapes with complex interactions:
Create custom battlefields with our built-in map editor. Place terrain, buildings, and spawn points for up to 8 players.
Optional fog of war adds an intelligence-gathering dimension to gameplay. Scout ahead with your units to reveal enemy positions and plan your attacks. Hidden enemies can ambush your units when you move into their range, dealing bonus damage and creating tense tactical moments where every move matters.
